Tamkeen was among the key participants in the Second "Corporate Governance and Responsibility" Forum, held in Amman from 2nd to 4th November 2009. The regional event hosted around 150 participants representing both the private and public sectors in various countries in the Middle East and Gulf regions, including: Jordan, Bahrain, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Syria, and the UAE.

The diversity of attendees supported the Forum's mission of bringing together the regions' experts in economic, social, and political development and sustainability, to discuss together the significance of corporate governance and responsibility in the MENA and Gulf Region.

During the first corporate responsibility session entitled: "Current Status, Advancement and Achievement of CSR in the MENA region", Tamkeen presented an overview of the evolution of CSR in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, highlighting seven main pit stops that shaped the current CSR platform in the country.

The Norwegian embassy held in partnership with Tamkeen for Corporate Sustainability, a roundtable at the Businessmen Centre in Jeddah's Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) on Tuesday May 12, 2009. The Norwegian Saudi businesses dialogue aimed at creating opportunities for sharing of experiences on the implementation of global and national CSR strategies and the challenges facing companies on both ends with demonstrating leadership for sustainable development. The roundtable succeeded in creating opportunities for deeper cooperation between Norwegian and Saudi companies on CSR.

The Norwegian Ambassador Mr. Jan Bugge-Mahrt welcomed the audience consisting of fifty academic, business, and public figures, then left the floor to presentations from different Norwegian and Saudi entities sharing experiences on latest trends, challenges, and cases of corporate responsibility in both countries.

The event set the base for future collaboration between Norwegian and Saudi businesses and initiated a dialogue between different entities from each country.
